“Special Something” An Original Poem By Nicholas Petela

Special Something
By Nicholas Petela
Written April 3, 2012

(Okay, I’ve been experimenting with excessive amounts of sleep and I’ll tell ya, it wrecks a guy’s system. :P So this poem’s a little mashy, I rhymed “know” with “know” and did a couple other things I wouldn’t usually dare consider, but I’ve got this gal on my mind and I had to get some words onto paper and I thought it came out pretty cute. It’s really nice finally getting back to being gutsy and writing about someone who doesn’t know who she is, I can finally say what I feel, y’know? So here it is.)
(Alsofacts: The logical opposite of “Forget-me-not” is “Forget-me-so”, for those of you who are a little slow on the uptake, you can experience it on time with everyone else. :P )

It’s nice to think of something
Other than the forget-me-so’s
Of long ago
It’s nice to think of something
As great as you

Let’s spend some time together
No matter what the weather
You make me almost think
There’s something there for me

You’re an awful special something
Despite being nothing
That I know
You’re an awful special something
Despite how I don’t see you
Much I know

Perhaps I’m reaching
Perhaps I’m gone
Perhaps I’m simply just moving on
But I’d much rather
Get to know you better
Than sit here dreaming
Of you being
Here with me

Perhaps you have been waiting
For someone to call your own
You got all a guy could ask for
So I don’t get how you’re alone
You got all I’ve ever wanted
So I don’t know why I’m waiting
I guess you’re simply just so stunning
That you leave me hesitating

You’re quite the special something
I want to get
Inside your head
You’re quite the special something
I want to be
A special friend
You’re quite the special something
I want you to mean
Something to me
So please
Will you be
My special something?
