So, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking, and I’ve decided to finally make the switch official.
This blog will no longer be updated internally, everything will now RSS back to StrangerSide at Wordpress.
strangerside.wordpress.com will be your new home for all the random junk that I decide to post. Hopefully, it’ll end up becoming quite different from what I’ve done here, maybe closer to what I originally intended to do with this blog.
If you still wanna follow, that’s cool. But all the main posts will be over at the WordPress.
It was nice getting to know you all, farewell.
Honestly, I have no clue what I just found right now, but it kind of interests me and so I thought that you guys, a couple fellow lovers of poetry (I hope. If not, what are you here for? My art sucks.) would like to see it too.
She’s one part run-on sentence, one part liquid philosophy, and too many parts stream-of-consciousness. All in all, she’s really good, which is weird for me to say because her style is really not my thing. But I still feel like promoting her so here she is. Read the top of her page, if that even vaguely made sense to you, read on.
Also, if you haven’t checked it out already, go back and find that other poet I shamelessly plugged/reviewed awhile back. She’s also good.
On a sort-of-related note, am I the only guy poet out here? O.o I feel so lonely.
For those of you interested in my more religious poems, I figured I’d introduce you to one of the most interesting public new-years resolutions I’ve seen:
This is a friend of mine, Skye, and her new blog. She’s logging her story as she tries to get closer to God.
Okay guys, the last post I made mentioned a poem “Released last hour” that wasn’t there. That was because it was planned for release on the 30th, alongside a (very closely related) poem I wrote yesterday. Since I was SOOO eager to get rid of it anyway, here you go. Take it. Yeah. :P
Okay. Today I have a little something special for you guys. I will be releasing 3 poems on every 3rd hour starting right this second.
These three each refer to this little (poetic) tantrum I’ve decided to throw (I wrote all of these between 3-5 in the morning, forgive me my lapses in maturity or rationality. They’re grammatically impeccable, poetically beautiful, but emotionally all over the place.), they each take a very different look at what is altogether the same thing. Each one is an unfounded accusation that basically says the universe is unfair and needs to stop. :P jk. This is, in part, me trying to rationalize my inaction, because although inaction wears at my impatience, in the end, it’s probably for the best. For those of you fond of my cheery work, avert thine eyes, not to be found here. This is me whining and complaining and being depressing and agreeing and disagreeing with myself, like I do most of the time. Yay. :D This is also me trying to give more insight on how I work, and give everyone more pretty words of mine to read/relate to (hopefully).
So yeah, 3, 6, and 9 tonight, keep watch for three special releases. Trust me, these are all pretty good.
Yeah, no post today as expected, just giving you this here so that you knew I DIDN’T FORGET :P
Also, I was wondering if you guys could do me one of two favors:
A: Write me at firstname.lastname@example.org with an idea as to what you’d like to hear me rant about on this blog, or
B: Tell a friend to start following. The more people follow, the more I disappoint them when I don’t post. And the more people I’m disappointing, the more come out.
Plan to see a new post by this time Friday. Not sure as to the topic anymore.
Anway, Thanks for reading, Until next time,
I know I haven’t been on much, and those of you who know me personally are aware that I promised a post on some religious subject, exactly this time today….
Sorry, not happening. Life’s been slow, and I’ve been having problems getting everything in order. Next week, I PROMISE. I might have something together by Wednesday, but the little message I have prepared is going to have to wait.
Some of you might be wondering, why be back now? And what’s with this with a religious post?
To sum it up, I went to a Christian youth conference in Fresno last weekend. It was great. God really moved, and I think he wanted me to do something to that effect here on my blog from there on out.
For you out there who find religion a sticky subject, not to worry. Although I would personally like you to read it, I’m not forcing anything, and will continue to post other things, on gaming, as well as some other things. I don’t know what’s going to happen to YourCraft, but trust me guys, something ought to be happening soon on that blog. Just know that I’m going to start picking up activity. Expect almost everything to appear on a queue, one that posts on Wednesdays and Sundays. I like those days. I like queued posts.
Sorry once again, thanks for reading, until next time,
Okay guys, I decided that YourCraft isn’t going to be a new SECTION, it’s going to be a new BLOG, accessible at:
I’ll be discussing anything and everything Minecraft. Posts will be made on a queue, so expect posts REGULARLY, and according to a SCHEDULE, specifically, once every Saturday at noon. However, as sort of an introduction, I have scheduled the next post for tommorrow at noon, talking about SheMineCrafts, a blog I just started following that brought up an interesting point about Fortresscraft, a Minecraft Clone, dare I say “ripoff”. I will still be updating this blog, more regularly than ever before, with stuff about philosophy, what’s going on in my life, as well as some general posts about games, gaming, and game development. However, nothing will be entirely about Minecraft, I have a seperate blog for that now.
Thanks for reading, until next time,
So, yesterday, I saw this lovely little thing on Randall Munroe’s XKCD. Since I’d already made an XKCD post EARLIER that day, I decided to “Queue” it, or set it up to be posted TOMMORROW, so that there would be a larger gap between posts and the people who follow my blog would not be overwhelmed.
This backfired. Spectacularly.
Something wrong happened when I tried (and failed several times) to queue the post. Although it said I only had one post in the queue, something glitched with tumblr and posted 20 copies of the EXACT SAME post. I have since played “Whack-a-mole” with these posts and they are all down, save for one copy. I’m sorry if you have been inconvienienced by this, thank you for your time.
Thanks for reading, Until next time,
So, hello, my name is Nicholas (Yes, the full thing, “Nicholas”) and this is my blog. So I was debating doing this as, in my mind, blogs are something that people who ARENT me do in their spare time, but then I realized that I was such a self-absorbed showoff that I might as well do something to this effect. But first, a history, maybe with some clues about what you can expect to see in later installments:
I was born on January 20th, presidential inaguration day, but due to the year, not the inaguration of any specific president. Oh well. I spent most of my early life under the guardianship of my mother, up until… 4? something like that. Then came something best equated to softcore custody warfare that kept me with my father and gave me naught but weekend visits with my dearest mother. It was about 5 when I first hit the fantastic theater scene, which has created most of the defining moments of my life up until now. When I was 10, I did Stuart Little through the theater group, and my mother didn’t show. This wasn’t her. February 18th, 2004 (I could be off on that year), my dad pulled me into the living room for “Family Time” with my sisters and myself. Mother had died. This is what made me who I am, or at least a grand part of it, because, according to anyone who thought well enough to take notes at this time, my grades hit a sharp decline. My teenage years (Up until now, with me turning 17 in just over a month) has been mostly spent in the grasp of depression. My counselor, who’s name I wont mention for protection of privacy, led me to a doctor who gave me the diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and the Clinical form of depression. I’ve been medicated for over a year now, I think.
Anyhow, lets get to what I think is the funner side of my history. As I said, theater defined me, or at least part of me, as did my mother’s constant reinforcement of the importance of education and creativity. To this day, I am a full time nerd and creative, and I can’t even sleep some nights because my mind is roused with some foolish idea that “Absolutely must be written down”. I do pen-and-paper roleplay, right now it’s GURPS but last year it was White Wolf, before that I did DnD, I think I’m probably going to stick with White Wolf and GURPS and forget DnD existed. I have one group running and one group in the making, and it’s a lot of fun. I’m also sort of an independant game designer, or at least training to be one. Right now everything’s under a curtain as I don’t have much confidence in how much I’ve done, but when the project’s closer to ready, this blog will be one of the first things to hear about it.
As for political and religious views, I am something of a Christian on the tip of the left-wing, with the grand exception on the issue of abortion (actually I’m not for drug legalization either, but abortion is a biggie). Essentially I believe in “The Boundary Of Right” that the only place I should really stop having rights is when they infringe upon someone elses. The five people who read that sentence and understood it are wondering why I have my stance on abortion then. My response is that if you’re dang well convinced that a cell with the full set of chromosomes and a nucleus (Like a fertilized egg, for example) is not alive, then I challenge you to cut 10 pounds of “Not alive” out of your internal organs. Without anesthetic. Obviously exceptions exist if we’re going to end up killing the mother or giving birth to something that would hurt every second of it’s existance, but somewhere on the line between 75% and 99% of the time, I’m going to agree with my gigglingly immature peers with their “You gave up your right to choose when you spread your legs” argument. As to everything else, I say “Live and let live.”. If a woman wants to marry a woman, let them. For the government to tell people who they can and can’t marry is just what it sounds like, “Society’s new flavor of discrimination and unfounded predjudice.”. Blacks were first, then women, society needs to just get gay hate out of their system. As for religious views, I believe that political views deserve to stay the heck out of them. Don’t get me wrong, I love God, without him I would not be alive today, but the relationship between church and state has NEVER, quote NEVER, been a healthy one, they need to just realize that they aren’t meant for each other and start seeing other people. The day others who share my belief in God realize that the first step to letting people change is to stop clubbing them, the day I’m happy. And yes, surely without legal restrictions, people are bound to sin, but God wants us to change OF OUR OWN FREE WILL, and keeping the kids off of the stove has never stopped the one who was curious enough to go try it and learn the lesson he should have been taught.
Once more, let’s try to end on a happy, non-shouty note, of my creativity. I plan to post lots of my poems, stories, and other creative pursuits on here for you all to gawk at, supposing you care (Then again, you’ve gotten this far, I don’t see why not). So yeah.
Also, I invite criticism. I don’t claim to be the absolute truth on everything, and I only voice my opinions on here because THATS WHAT A BLOG IS FOR, I’m going to welcome criticism and generate discussion because I don’t do this just to see my post count added to. Every Sunday at 12, I will be releasing a “Mailbag” section, supposing I have SOMETHING to write about. Honestly, I wanna talk with someone, this blog was generated because I want to SHARE opinions, not SHOUT opinions. Sometime soon I will also be starting up a little “Developer’s Corner” where I talk about games, gaming, and the development and choices involved in such. Each can be seperated by the “Tag” system Tumblr uses, “News” and “Life” for these kind of posts, “Mailbag” and “DevCorner” for the others (once they get picked up)
Thanks for reading, until next time,
